Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches

disappointing Friday for Padraig as he shoots a 73 which leaves him outside the cut line for the weekend in Florida. Starting on the back nine, he got off to the perfect start with an opening birdie four, but gave that shot back on the tough par four 12th hole. He lost another shot on the par three 17th hole, when he found water off the tee and did well to get up and down from the same tee box. The front nine was a mixture of birdies and bogies, the course was playing tough with gale force winds, to string together the required number of birdies to progress. He remains in the States, as he is on a run of consecutive tournaments between both tours!

Padraig opens his account at Cognizant Classic with a level par round of 71. He got off to a nice start with a couple of early birdies and dropped just the one shot to be out in 34 shots. He started the tough back nine with another couple of birdies but found water at the par four 12th hole to cancel them out. He negotiated the infamous “Bear Trap” in level par but again found water at the last for another bogey. He currently  lies just outside the cut mark but with an early tee time Friday has a chance to make up ground. Seven under par leads.

Padraig plays this week on the PGA Tour at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches. He is a former winner of the event when it was known as the Honda Classic.

Tee times: Thursday at 6.02pm GMT and Friday at 1.02pm with Aaron Baddeley and Justin Lower.

Mexico Open at Vidanta

Padraig signs off in Mexico with a final round of one under par 70. It leaves him just outside the top fifty. Plenty of birdies yet again but the story of the day was two sixes on the two par fives coming home which would normally be birdie chances for Padraig. He plays again next week on the PGA Tour as a past winner of the Honda Classic!

Padraig has a mixed day on the course during the third round of the Mexico Open as he swaps three birdies with four bogies on a day where he found trouble in a couple of bunkers. He also incurred a penalty shot on the par four 10th hole. All tbree birdies were short putts so he will hope to cut out the mistakes in the final round! He tees off at 1.47pm with James Hahn. Nineteen under par leads by four going into the final round.

Padraig shoots a very impressive round of 66 to easily make the cut at the Mexico Open. He recorded seven birdies in all with only one blemish at the par four 5th hole where he missed a five foot putt. But all in all a stellar performance and only seven behind the leaders going into the weekend!

Padraig opens his account in Mexico with a one over par round of 72. He traded a couple of birdies with a lone bogey on the par three 17th to be out in one under par. He did get to two under with a nice putt from fourteen feet on the par three 5th hole but a poor finish saw him drop three shots in his last two holes. He currently sits close to the cut line and will need to play well Friday to advance. Eight under leads at the moment.

Padraig plays this week and next on the PGA Tour. This week it is the turn of the Mexico Open at Vidanta, a par 71 that plays to nearly 7,500 yards.

Tee times: Opening round Thursday at 2.25pm and Friday at 7.10pm  with Francesco Molinari and Peter Mainati
