Padraig fails to make the cut at the BMW PGA Championship after a second round of 77. He recorded three birdies during the round, all on the par fives, but just made too many mistakes, as he made eight bogies on the day. Poor driving was the main culprit, and a three putt on the par three 10th hole made it a day to forget.
Padraig starts slowly at Wentworth as he records a two over par round of 74. Starting on the back nine, he got off to the perfect start with a birdie two at his opening hole. He gave that straight back with a double bogey at the par four 11th hole, before another birdie at the short par five 12th hole had him back at par. Unfortunately, he suffered another double at the tough par four 15th hole, where he founds trees off the tee and then a greenside bunker. He rounded off the nine in style with a birdie on the par five 18th hole. Another followed on the par five 4th hole before two late dropped shots saw him sign for a 74. Work to do on Friday!
Padraig is at the flagship DP World Tour event this week, the BMW PGA Championship. It is being played at the iconic Wentworth Club and a who’s who of golf are playing. It also has the added prestige of being a Rolex event and a chance for players chasing Patraick Reed in the Race to Dubai standings. Throw in Ryder Cup qualification and it’s a momentous week in the players calendar.
Tee Times -> Opening round at 8.10am with Tom McKribbin and Oliver Lindell.
