Final round of 73 sees Padraig finish in a tie for 7th place at the Ally Challenge. He struggled on the long holes and covered the par fives in one over par. With six dropped shots on the day, it was a real mixed bag with some sterling play including five birdies, but also some loose play. He remains on the Champions Tour as the season ending Charles Schwab Cup continues!
Padraig shoots a three under par round of 69 which still leaves him in contention with the final round to come on Sunday. He trails by three shots and will need a hot start in the final round to catch the leaders. He got off to a very quiet start with seven straight pars before picking up a shot at the par three 8th hole, and turned in one under par. A bogey on the par five 13th hole, where in incurred a penalty shot, left him in trouble, but a fine finish of three birdies in his last five holes gives him a chance on Sunday!
Padraig opens his account at the Ally Challenge with a seven under par round of 65. This leaves him in third place just two behind the leader. He got off to a nice start with three birdies in his first four holes and added two more late on to be out in 31 shots. Three more birdies followed on the back nine before his only dropped shot of the day at the par three 17th hole. He missed the green and found a heavy lie resulting in a bogey but it was a solid day all round and yet again he made great use of the par fives which he played in four under par! He tees off Saturday at 12.45pm with John Rollins and Vaughan Taylor.
It’s the final push for Padraig as the PGA Champions Tour heads for the season ending Charles Schwab Cup countdown. This weeks event is the Ally Challenge which Padraig would like to add to his list of wins as he has not won the event before! He is currently in third place in the Schwab Cup standings and would like to consolidate that position as first and second place look a bridge too far. The course this week is at Warwick Hills and is a par 72 that can play to 7,085 yards, so with four par fives, it gives the bigger hitters a distinct advantage.
