It was a much better day on Friday as a rejuvenated Padraig broke par and shot a one under round of 69 to bow out of the Open Championship. In stark contrast to his opening round, he made plenty of birdies, six in all, but mistakes held him back from a low score. He now has to reset for the formidable challenge that is Gleneagles next week!
Padraig endured the day from hell as he failed to make a birdie and also failed to break 80, two events that rarely occur in his distinguished career. It was a day to forget as fatigue must have played a pivotal part, this is his 5th week on the road, on both sides of the world and maybe an extra two days off will help him defend his ISPS Handa Senior Open title next week at Gleneagles!
It’s that one week of the year where all avid golfers look forward to the Open Championship. It is being played this year at Royal Birkdale, which of course is where Padraig defended his crown in 2008.
Tee Times -> Opening round at 1.20pm with Marco Penge and Michael Hollick.
