Final round of one under par 70 sees Padraig finish on a positive note as he dips under par for the first time this week. He made just one birdie, on the par five 13th hole, and seventeen pars. He made a total of just five birdies for the week which is astonishing when you consider he made six in ten holes in practice on Wednesday! Onwards and upwards! A big week next week, with the start of the Rolex series, and a mega tournament in the Dubai Desert Classic which always attracts a top class field.
Third round of 75 sees Padraig thread water at the Dubai Invitational. A poor start where he was out in two over par was compounded by a double bogey six on the par four 15th hole, where he incurred a penalty off the tee. Yet again, he was short on birdies, which is unusual for him, as he only recorded one for the day at the par five 10th hole. Hopefully a better day Sunday as he prepares for next weeks Rolex event!
Fridays second round was marked by windy conditions and some tricky flag positions so the scoring was generally higher. Padraig eventually signed for a 75, after making just one birdie on the day, at the par four 15th hole. He got off to a slow start with two dropped shots on his opening two holes and added another one at the par 3, 8th hole, to be out in three over par. His rare birdie pick up coming home was wiped out by two closing bogies, so all in all, it’s a weekend to get his game in shape for next weeks event. He lies in tied 39th place at five over par, some ten shots behind the leaders!
Opening round of one over par 72 sees Padraig get his 2006 season under way. It was a lack of birdies on the day that hindered him along with three mistakes on a course that played difficult off the tee. It requires a lot of placement shots as the rough is penal. It’s a no cut, pro-am type event, so Padraig with play all four rounds which is a nice warm up for next weeks Dubai Desert Classic, the first of the years Rolex events!
The 2026 season starts early for Padraig as he tees it up on the DP World Tour at the Dubai Invitational. It’s a star studded field with all the top players from Europe playing. This week is the first of three events being held in Dubai this year. Tommy Fleetwood is your defending champion and he is joined by the world number two, Rory McIlroy.
Tee Times -> Third round at 9.06am with Andy Sullivan.
