Final round of level par 71 sees Padraig finish in tied 23rd place at seven under par. Stewart Cink won the event with a twenty under par total. Padraig started with a birdie but the well went dry from there as he recorded eight straight pars to be out in one under par. A horror turn saw him three putt both the 10th and 11th holes to drop three shots but he did redeem himself with two late birdies to finish the regular season on the PGA Champions Tour. He finished in 6th place in the overall standings. He is a confirmed starter for the annual PNC pairs competition in December in which he will play with one of his sons!
Padraig takes route 66 for his third round but finds himself too far back to have any impact on the leaders at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. He was out in two under par and then had four more birdies coming home, but one lone dropped shot, at the par four 17th, where he had a penalty drop was his only blemish on the day. Hopefully more of the same to come Sunday!
Padraig shoots a second round of four under par 67 but it could have been much lower on the day as he got off to the dream start he needed. He was five under par after his opening eight holes and added another one on the par four 12th hole to get to six under par with six to play, and within sight on the leaders. Unfortunately, he missed the green at the par three 13th which resulted in a dropped shot and a penalty shot at the par five 18th also cost him a bogey! But he played well and the putter behaved so optimisim for the weekend. He tees off Saturday at 6.35pm with Mark Hensby.
Padraig opens with a disappointing round of 73 in which he never got going. It was a day where the putter went cold and he only recorded one birdie, on the par four 4th hole. He had three dropped shots all from tee shots in the rough so will be hoping for a few more putts to drop on Friday!
Padraig plays the final event of the regular season, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. It is being played at Phoenix Country Club and Padraig is a past winner back in 2022 and has had some good finishes around the par 71 course that plays to 6,860 yards. He presently sits in 6th place in the standings with earnings of around two million dollars. It is a 72 hole event that starts Thursday!
