Final round of two under par 70 was a molotov cocktail with seven pars, five birdies, five bogies and an eagle to top it off. Starting on the back nine, it was a feast or a famine as he swapped birdies and bogies to be out in level par. Another shot went at his 10th hole before a nice run of three consecutive birdies but he covered the remaining holes in level par to finish in a tie for 34th place. He now sits in 6th position in the Charles Schwab Cup race with two wins for the season. The final event is on November 13th in Phoenix, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship!
Padraig opens his account at the Simmons Bank Championship with a two under par round of 70. He currently lies in 18th position and trails his playing partner, Steve Alker, by a whopping nine shots! He got off to a nice start with two birdies coming on the 5th and 6th holes, but a disaster double bogey on the next, where he had a penalty shot and a visit to the sand, halted his good progress. He did birdie the par five 8th to be out in one under par. Two birdies and a lone bogey on the par four 14th hole made up his back nine and he will have to go some tomorrow to make up the ground on the leader.
Padraig plays the second play off event this week in the Charles Schwab Cup at the Simmons Bank Championship. It is being played at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock, a par 72 that plays to 7,100 yards. Padraig is the current tournament record holder with a total of 197 when he won here in 2023 and this event is a happy hunting ground for Padraig as he attempts to win it three times in a row! The top 36 players after this weeks event will contest the grand final.
