Final round of level par 72 at the home of golf leaves Padraig just outside the top 70. With the third round cancelled due to adverse weather, it was a shotgun start for the field on Sunday and Padraig never really got going as he traded three dropped shots with three birdies to finish at four under par for the tournament. Ryder Cup winner, Robert MacIntyre, won the event by four shots with an 18 under par total. In the team event, Team Harrington, finished just outside the top thirty with a 20 under par total.
Padraig cards a fine round of two under par 70 in horrible conditions, of wind and rain, around the exposed Kingsbarns links. On a day for keeping the head, as scores soared, he was rock steady, making four birdies and just dropping the two shots on the par four 5th hole and par three 8th hole. He will now have to wait for a shotgun start at 12.30pm on Saturday around St Andrews, as some players still have to finish their second rounds on Saturday morning. In the team event, they are fourteen under par after adding a 66 to their opening effort.
Padraig opens his account at Carnoustie with a two under par round of 70. He was out on one under par after a sole birdie on the short par four 4th hole. Two more birdies followed on the 11th and 12th holes before his only dropped shot of the day at the beastly par three 16th hole. In the team event he sits at eight under par with his partner, Kieran McManus, which is currently just inside the top 100. A whopping 17 under par leads the team after the opening day! Padraig plays opposite Bubba Watson at Kingsbarns on Friday, teeing off at 9.22am.
Padraig plays this week at one of the flagship events on the DP World Tour, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. As a former winner, the event holds a special place in his heart with a unique format of playing three of Scotlands most famous courses, St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. The Pro-Am event also plays a significant part in the week and again Padraig is a former winner of the Pro-Am. Tyrrell Hatton is the defending champion this week and is one of four Ryder Cup players competing after their historic victory last week in the USA.
Tee Times -> Friday 9.22am with Bubba Watson at Kingsbarns!
