Padraig follows up his opening round with another 73 but a poor start had him on the back foot all day. The par four 1st hole is a tough hole on any given day but he started with a double bogey six which killed any momentum for the round. He did fight back with a couple of birdies but the putter went cold coming home and eight straight pars to finish left him four shots out of the cut line. It was disappointing but not a course that he has had great success on in the past!
Padraig opens with a one over par round of 73 at Wentworth for this weeks BMW PGA Championship. He made four birdies on the day, three of them coming on the par 5’s, but three dropped shots and a double bogey on the par four 16th, where he found trouble off the tee and incurred a penalty, put paid to any chance of a low round. Eight under par leads and with the cut line looking like it will be around level par, Padraig will need to eradicate mistakes on Friday as he tees off at 11.55am.
Padraig plays this week at one of the flagship events on the DP World Tour, the BMW PGA Championship. It is being held, as usual, at the prestigious Wentworth course in Surrey, England. The course has seen many thrilling tournaments over the years and this weeks event promises to be just as exciting with a who’s who of golf playing. It is a course that Padraig has never won around but enjoys playing so hopefully a good week is in store!
Tee Times -> Thursday 7.50am and Friday 11.55am with Joaquin Niemann and Daniel Brown
