Padraig misses the cut at the Valero Texas Open but only after a brave fightback after a poor start to his round. He was three over par after eleven holes having recorded three dropped shots on the 4th, 9th and 11th holes but fought back well with two birdies on the 15th and 16th holes but to no avail. It was a very low looking cut mark at two under par as the afternoon conditons proved favourable for scoring. Twelve under par leads the tournament heading into the weekend.
Padraig opens his account at the Velero Texas Open with a one over par round of 73. Starting on the back nine, he dropped an early shot at the par three 13th hole, but rallied well to birdie three of the next five holes and turn in two under par. He struggled on the front nine with four dropped shots and just the one birdie on the par four 5th hole, where he hit his approach shot close. He is currently a shot off the cut line so will need some solid play Friday to progress. Nine under par leads after the opening round.
Padraig plays this week on the PGA Tour at the Valero Texas Open.
