Bad day at the office for Padraig as he recorded just one birdie which in itself is a very rare occurence. Starting on the 10th hole, he got off to the worst possible start with a penalty shot off the tee and a double bogey to follow. He also dropped another shot on the par four 16th hole to be out in three over par. It didn’t get much better as two more shots went on the 3rd and 4th holes before his only birdie of the day at the par three 9th hole where he hit it close. His 75 left him missing the cut by four shots!
Padraig opens his account in Mexico with a pleasing round of three under par 68 which leaves him just outside the top thirty. Seven under par leads. He played very well with just one poor hole, the par four 10th, where he took four to get down from just off the green to record a double bogey six. He had three birdies going out and just the one blemish at the par four 4th hole, where he found the rough off the tee. He hit back well after the disaster on ten with three birdies in the next five holes and then had a bogey birdie finish to sign for his 68. He tees off early Friday so will be hoping for more of the same!
Padraig is playing this week in Mexico at the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld.
Tee Times -> Opening round Thursday at 6.32pm local time and 1.52pm Friday with Michael Kim and Nicolai Hojgaard.
