Padraig had a disappointing second day in Dubai as he missed the cut by one shot after a round of three over par 75. He again got off to a slow start with five opening pars but two dropped shots on the par four 6th hole and the tough par four 9th hole had him out in two over par. He birdied the next two to get back to level par but two balls off the tee at the 12th saw him rack up a double bogey six. He birdied the par four 14th to get back inside the cut line but a dreadful finish of two dropped shots in the final two holes put paid to the weekends golf.
Padraig opened his 2025 account on the DP World Tour with a two under par round of 70 around the Emirates course in Dubai. Seven under par leads after the opening round. He got off to a slow start with eight pars and then missed a short putt on the par four 9th hole to be out in 36 shots. But he rallied well on the way home and used his power game to birdie all three par fives, converting three short putts to sign for the 70.
Padraig starts his 2025 campaign on the DP World Tour at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. It’s a who’s who of golf with all the top players competing, including Jon Rahm who is making his debut here. This is the 35th edition of the event and will be played, as usual, on the Emirates course which has matured beautifully over the years. Rory McIlroy is your defending champion.
