Padraig struggles on the final day as he shoots a level par round of 72. He got off to a slow start with a dropped shot at the first and continued that way to be out in 37 shots. The back nine was more of the same, as he recorded eight pars and a lone birdie at the par four 13th hole, where he holed from off the green! He finished in a tie for 11th place, some seven shots behind the first time winner, Tim O’Neal. Two events now remain in the Schwab Cup, the Simmons Bank Championship on October 25th and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship finals on November 7th!
Superb second round from Padraig as he bounces right back into contention going into Sundays final round. His six under par 66 was the joint best score of the day and leaves him just three behind the leader and in tied 5th spot. He recorded eight birdies in all with two dropped shots on the 2nd and 11th holes. But it was his finish that was inspiring with four birdies to sign off for the day. More of the same is required on Sunday!
Disappointing opening round for Padraig as he shoots a level par round of 72 at the Dominican Energy Charity Classic. Six under par leads the way after the opening round. He was out in one under par after recording eights pars and a solitary birdie on the par five 6th hole, which he reached in two shots. He continued making pars until he found the heavy rough on the par four 13th hole and dropped a shot. He got that back at the par five 16th hole where he got up and down from a greenside bunker but frustratingly dropped a shot at the par five finishing hole, where he found trouble off the tee, this time a fairway bunker. He will need a low round Saturday to get back in the hunt! He tees off at 4.21 GMT.
Padraig plays this week on the PGA Champions Tour at the Dominican Energy Charity Classic. He was third here in 2022 and after last weeks near miss, he will be looking to gain a win. He currently lies in 10th place in the season ending Charles Schwab Cup so will be looking to move up the order before the final event on November 7th in Phoenix, Arizona!
Tee Times: Opening round Friday at 4.54pm with Paul Broadhurst and Doug Barron.
