Final round of one over par 71 for Padraig after a weather delayed Sunday culminates in a sudden death playoff on Monday! Richard Bland won the event for his second Senior Major win in a row! Padraig got off to the dream start with a couple of opening birdies, dropped a shot on the par three, 5th hole, but got it back on the par four 9th hole to be out in 33 shots. He swapped a birdie with a bogie coming in before a horror finish of three dropped shots in his final three holes put paid to a top ten finish. He eventually tied for 16th place but had plenty of positives going forward into a very busy part of the season!

Padraig delivers a third round of one under par 69 but could have been so much better. He recorded five birdies in all on the day, an opening birdie on the par five 1st hole and a storming back nine of 31 shots but two holes derailed his round. He found a bunker on the par four 7th hole to drop a shot, and then had to reload on the par four 8th hole, before three putting the green for a triple bogie seven. His three under par total has him in a tie for 13th place. Fourteen under par leads the way. Padraig tees off at 2.25pm with Birk Nelson and Stephen Ames.

Padraig struggles in his second round at the U.S Open as he hits the ball quite well but doesn’t score. To compound the misery, he received a retrospective shot penalty on the 9th hole for an incorrect drop. His day started brightly with an early birdie on the par four second hole, but he dropped four shots in his last four holes to be out in three over par. He rallied well to birdie both the 10th and 17th holes,  but his one over par 71 leaves him at three under for the tournament and eight behind the leader going into Saturday’s third round. He tees off at 1.54pm with Lee Westwood and Thongchai Jaidee.

Padraig opens his account at the Senior US Open with a solid round of four under par 66 which leaves him in a tie for 3rd presently. Seven under leads after the early morning play. Starting on the back nine, he played nice golf to pick up two shots and reach the turn in two under par. He pushed forward with three birdies in his next four holes before his only mistake of the day, at the par three 5th hole, where he missed the green and failed to get up and down for par. He was rock solid coming in to finish with four straight pars and sign for a 66. He will be well pleased as its a long and tough course this week !

Padraig plays this week at the US Senior Open Championship at Newport CC in Rhode Island, USA. Padraig is a past winner of the event in 2022 and will be looking to add to his Major haul on the Seniors tour.

Tee Times: Thursday at 1.13pm and Friday at 6.43pm with David Toms and Y.E.Yang
