Padraig has a day to forget on course with a four over par round of 74 to see him miss the cut. Starting on the back nine, he got off to a very poor start with four dropped shots in his opening five holes. He rallied briefly to birdie the par five, 16th hole, where he holed a long range putt, to be out in 38 shots. A mixture of three dropped shots and two birdies, started his back nine, before four closing pars put the lid on a bad day at the office. Onwards and upwards!

Padraig opens his account at the Texas Children’s Houston Open with a battling round of level par to be six off the lead after day one. He got off to a slow start with a short missed putt on the first for par but hit back with consecutive birdies and then swapped a birdie for a bogey to be out in one under par. He gave that shot back at the par three 11th hole where he three putted from long range and then dropped another shot at the par four 14th hole. He bounced back straight away with a nice deuce on the par three 15th hole where he drained a 14 foot putt! Three pars to finish had him in the clubhouse with a round of 70. He tees off early Friday at 1.04pm GMT.

Padraig plays this week on the PGA Tour at the Texas Children’s Houston Open.

Tee times: Thursday at 6.04pm with Jason Day and Sahith Theegala.
