Padraig absolutely steals the show at the Dicks Sporting Goods Open to defend his title and from no where snatch victory by one shot. He was out in two under par after a mixture of four birdies and two bogeys and added two pars on the 10th and 11th holes to be out with the washing. But in a grandstand finish he sailed home in seven under par for the last seven holes to leave the field reeling and a sweet one shot victory. Next up is defending his US Senior Open crown!
Padraig played really well, yet again, to record a six under par round of 66 which leaves him three shots behind the leaders going into Sundays final round. He blitzed through the front nine in four under par before adding another shot at the par five 12th hole. He then dropped his only shot of the day at the par three 16th hole before finishing in style with a birdie three at the last! With a bunched leaderbord, he will need a low round Sunday to defend his title but is well capable!
Padraig opens his account with a three under par round of 69 to trail the leaders by two going into the weekend. He got off to a strong start with three birdies in the first five holes but dropped a shot at the short par three 7th hole to be out in 35 shots. He again played the early part of the back nine well with another three birdies in five holes before droped shots at the 16th and 17th holes saw him sign for a 69. He is still well placed with two rounds to go!
Padraig plays this week at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open. It is an event that he won last year and will be keen to defend! It is being played at Endicott, New York and he won by three last year with a 16 under par total.
