Padraig finishes with a flourish at the Hoag Classic as he closed with a five under par round of 66. He had no blemish on his card, which is always pleasing, and played solid golf throughout the day. He got off to the start he needed with a couple of early birdies and added one more at the par four 7th hole to be out in 32 shots. He kept the pressure on the leaders with another birdie on the par four 11th hole but couldn’t add any more until playing the par five 18th hole. It was one of the best rounds of the day and left him in a tie for 8th place with his ten under par total. Thirteen under par won the event. Speaking afterwards he remarked, “I just left myself with too much ground to make up!” All in all a very encouraging performance for the season ahead.
Padraig shoots a second round of three under par 68 but trails the leader by seven shots going into the final round due to an ice cold back nine. He started on the back side and got off to the perfect start with two opening birdies but dropped a shot at the par four 12th hole. He picked up three more birdies in his last four holes to turn in 33 shots but a back nine of nine straight pars leaves him with an impossble task Sunday! He tees off early at 4.55pm GMT and will be all out to gain valuble ranking points with a long season ahead!
Padraig opens his account at the Hoag Classic with a two under par round of 69. It was a day where he left plenty of chances out on the golf course. He got off to a slow start and was one over par after seven holes but birdied the short par three 8th hole to be out in level par. He continued to thread water but picked up two shots before dropping another shot at the par four 16th hole. He finished with a flourish with a birdie four at the last. He tees off at 4.35pm GMT in the second round with Alex Cejka and Retief Goosen. Seven under par leads the field!
