Padraig wins the Charles Schwab Cup Championship with another devastating display, as he shoots a six under par 65, and breaks the Seniors Tour record for 72 hole scoring. He also equaled the legend, Jack Nicklaus, record of 27 under par for a Seniors tournament. He shot out of the blocks yet again with three early birdies and maintained his lead. Three more birdies followed on the back nine including a monster putt on the par three 15th hole which he holed from down town, on a day where he dominated from start to finish. Steven Alker finished third so takes the season long title race, and deservedly so after a stellar season. All in all, a fantastic Seniors season for Padraig with four wins including a Major, the Seniors US Open!

Padraig leads the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, after shooting a career best 62, by five shots going into the final round. The combination of sheer power off the tee and a deft touch on the greens blew his main rival, Steven Alker, and the field, into oblivion as he gave a masterclass on the day. The three time Major champion showed he was in the mood with an opening eagle on the par five first hole where he hit his approach shot to six feet. Two more birdies followed to be out in 32 shots and leading by a shot but then the fireworks came with four birdies in a row and a four shot gap to the field. He reached the par five last in two to cement another birdie and a healthy five shot lead. He will again play Sunday in the final two ball at 12.30pm local time, with Steven Alker, who remarked afterwards, “Padraig kicked my ass today, that’s basically what happened!

Padraig shoots a seven under par round of 64 but to no avail as Steve Alker keeps the pressure on with his own 64! Padraig left no one in doubt of his intentions as he stormed out of the gate with four birdies in his first five holes to take a one shot lead. He covered the rest of the front nine in par to turn in 32 and added another birdie at the par four 10th hole. His only blemish came at the par three 15th hole where he three putted but he redeemed himself with two closing birdies, including reaching the par five last and leaving his eagle putt in the jaws of the hole. It promises to be a shootout at the weekend for the Charles Schwab Championship Cup title as the money list looks all but over as ironman, Steve Alker, shows no signs of wilting in his pursuit of at least a top five finish to claim the crown! They play together at 12.55pm local time and lead the field by two shots!

Padraig opens with a fine round of five under par 66 to trail the leaders by just one hot after the opening round of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. He played very well recording six birdies and just one blemish on the par four third where he found the jungle off the tee. He putted nicely which augers well for the weekend but still needs to take advantage of his length on the par fives. His main rival for the season long money list, Steven Alker, is one shot ahead of him so it promises to be a fightout to the end! Padraig plays Friday with Brian Gay at 12.30pm local time.

It’s a 72 hole shoot out to decide this years season long Charles Schwab Cup winner. It all comes down to the last tournament of the year, with Padraig needing to WIN and the current leader, Steven Alker, finishing outside the top 5. It’s a four day event to finish for the top 33 players left in the race. Steven Alker has previous form at the Phoenix Country Club, having finished second in 2020. It’s a par 71 and the scoring will be low going by previous years form. Padraig has had a stellar season so it’s all to play for!

Tee Times –  Thursday 1pm with Steven Alker!
