A bad day at the office would be the best way to describe Padraig’s final round at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. He made six bogies throughout the round and three birdies to sign for a three over par score of 74. He never got it going with a couple of early bogies but three dropped shots around the turn made it a day to forget! He finished in tied 20th place at four under par. Sixteen under par won the event.
Third round of three under par 68 sees Padraig in a tie for 8th place heading into Sundays final round. He got off to a poor start with a dropped shot at the short par three 2nd hole and was still over par after seven holes played. He birdied the par four 8th hole to be out in level par but then a run of three consecutive birdies, 2-3-2, from the 11th hole got him back under par. He did make two more birdies coming in but also dropped two more shots. He trails the leader by five shots with a round to go!
Padraig shoots a second round of one under par 70 to lie in tied 12th place on four under par going into the weekend. He got off to a nice start with an early birdie on the par three 2nd hole but gave that back at the par three 4th hole. He again dipped under par at the par four 8th hole but had a disappointing bogie at the par five 9th hole to be out in level par. He then picked up two shots coming home before a poor bunker shot on the par three 17th cost him a final shot. Eight under par leads going into the weekend so all to play for!
Padraig opens his account at the Kitchen Aid Senior PGA Championship with a very pleasing round of three under par 68. He opened up with a birdie/bogie start but then picked up two shots going out at the par five 15th hole and the short par three 17th hole. Turning for home he played very steady golf recording eight pars but finished nicely with a birdie on the par five 9th hole. He is only four behind the leaders and lies in tied 17th place. He will be hoping for more of the same with an early tee time Friday!
Padraig plays this week at the Kitchen Aid Senior PGA Championship.
