Padraig shoots a second round of three over par 75 which sees him miss the cut by one shot. He again got off to a nice start and was one under par after two holes but dropped shots on the par three 6th hole and par four 9th hole had him out in one over par. Another shot went at the tough par four 10th hole before a final dropped shot on the par five 15th hole where he failed to get up and down from just off the back of the green. It was a tough day for scoring but he will be disappointed as he played some nice golf but failed to hole any crucial putts.
Padraig opens his account at Augusta with a two over par round of 74. He got off to the perfect start and was two under par after four holes after missing chances on the first and second holes. Two dropped shots followed before he picked up another birdie at the par five 8th hole. He got through the tough 10th and 11th holes in par before over-shooting the par three 12th hole into the back bunker. From there he played a great bunker shot but failed to convert the putt from four feet. Steady pars followed but a poor finish saw him drop two shots coming in to sign for a 74. This leaves him in a tie for 43rd place.
Padraig is back at Augusta, his first time back since playing in 2015. He qualifies due to his 4th place finish at last years PGA Championship and will look forward to playing an event he has always held in high esteem. Some changes to the course have happened over the years and it now plays much longer and with the expected poor weather forecast, this promises to be a tough and gruelling Masters.
Tee Times – Padraig tees off at 8.11am Thursday and 1.11pm Friday with Mike Weir and Austin Greaser.
