A second round of level par saw Padraig miss the cut by one shot. He again got off to a slow start with a dropped shot on the par five 3rd hole where he found trouble off his second shot. He picked that lost shot up at the par four 13th hole with a ten footer but overall had 16 pars for the day. He was unlucky to miss the cut by one.
Padraig opens his account at the Honda Classic with a three over par round of 73. Starting on the back nine, he got off to a slow start with three dropped shots in his opening six holes but picked one up at the par five 18th to be out in two over par. He again picked up another shot at the par five 3rd hole and followed that with five straight pars in tough conditions but found water at the 9th hole and three putted it to run up a double bogey six to finish. He tees off first on Friday and will be hoping for a quick start and more benign conditions.
Padraig plays this week at the Honda Classic. It is being played as usual at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach gardens, Florida. It was originally desined by Tom Fazio but redesigned in 2014 by Jack Nicklaus and contains the infamous three hole stretch (15,16,17) known as the “Bear Trap” and with water in play on 16 of the holes it is a stern test of golf. Padraig is a past winner having won the title in 2015. Matt Jones is your defending champion this week after leading wire to wire after opening with a 61!
Tee Times – Padraig plays with Nick Watney and Matthew NeSmith at 11.45am round 1 and 6.50am round 2!
