Padraig shoots a second round of one over par 72 to miss the cut at the Palmetto Championship at Congaree. Starting on the back nine he started with a dropped shot but picked up two birdies to be out in one under par. He again started his back nine with a dropped shot where he found bunker trouble. He got that back immeriately with a nice birdie on the par five 2nd hole where he holed from 26 feet but disaster struck at the next par five where he found a waste bunker and three putted the hole for a double bogey seven. He birdied his next hole but needing a couple of birdies coming home, he dropped his final shot at the par four 8th hole to sign for a 72 and a three over par total for the tournament. He has a week off now as he is not playing in the U.S. Open.
Padraig opens his account at the Palmetto Championship at Congaree with a two over par round of 73. He was out in one under par with a lone birdie on the par five 4th hole where he wedged it close. He found bunker trouble on the back nine, where he dropped three shots in a row all from the waste areas surrounding the course. He dropped another shot on the par four 14th hole before picking up a shot at the par four 16th hole where he again wedged it close. He tees off early Friday at 7.11am local time with work to do!
Padraig plays this week at the Palmetto Championship at Congaree. It will be played in South Carolina and is a one time replacemnet for the RBC Canadian Open as Covid still causes some cross border challenges. It is a par 71 course that plays to 7,600 yards and is a Tom Fazio design. World number one, Dustin Johnson leads the field this week.
