Review & US Open Qualifying
Second round of 77 sees Padraig miss the cut at the Momorial. Two birdies on the day were not enough to counteract a couple of water balls.
Padraig opens his account at Muirfield Village with a disappointing round of six over par 78. Starting on the back side, he got off to a par start before finding water at the par three 12th hole. He followed a double bogey there with another on the par four 14th hole where he found a greenside bunker. Three pars followed before a disaster on the tough par four 18th hole where he again found water off the tee to run up a triple bogey seven. He steadied the ship coming home with three birdies mixed with two bogies. He tees off late Friday and will need something special to make the cut on a very challenging course.
Padraig plays this week at the Memorial Tournament which is as always hosted at Muirfield Village, the course that Jack built. It has undergone many changes over the years and is a fine test of golf with everything laid out in front of you. A whos who of golf is playing this week with one of the strongest fields of the year assembled. John Rahm won here when it was last played in 2020.
Tee Times – Thursday at 9.08am and Friday at 2.08pm with Doug Ghim and Adam Hadwin.
