Padraig shot a five over par round of 76 to miss the cut at the Genesis Invitational. He had four birdies in his round but a seven on the par four 12th put paid to any chances of a good round. He found trouble off the tee and also bunker trouble and never recovered. He will be adding in a couple of extra events in the next couple of weeks due to his Covid inactivity!
Disappointing opening round for Padraig at Riviera but probably to be expected after a week of inactivity due to Covid quarantine. He got off to a nice start on the back nine with an opening par and birdie but then dropped five shots in his next seven holes to be out in 40 shots. He found trouble off the tee on all five holes including a penalty and several bunkers. He steadied the ship coming home with seven pars and a birdie but unfortunately dropped a shot at his last hole where he again found a bunker and failed to get up and down. His 75 leaves him with a lot of work to do in the second round but with an early start he will be hopeful of a quick start!
Padraig is back in action this week at the Genesis Invitational after last weeks enforced absence at a course he adores, Riviera. It is a fantastic layout with some iconic holes and one of the best short par fours in the world, the 10th. A whos who of golf plays this week with one of the deepest fields to compete all year. Riviera is a par 71 where the three par 5’s play well under par but the rest of the course is tough if you get out of position. Adam Scott is your defending champion.
Tee Times – Padraig plays this week in the opening round at 12.38pm and the second round at 8.08am with Russell Henley and Brian Stuard.
