A second round of two over par 73 sees Padraig miss the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He got off to the perfect start with three early birdies but dropped three shots to finish his front nine. Three more shots were lost before a closing birdie on the par four 17th hole.

Padraig opens his account in Phoenix with a level par round of 71 but it was all down to a terrible finish. He got off to a steady start with a nice deuce on the par-three 4th hole where he holed a 20 footer for birdie. He then played more steady golf hitting most of the greens and holing another curling 20 foot putt for birdie on the 9th to be out in 33 shots. More solid play same coming home as he opened with five straight pars before going to three-under for his round with a birdie on the par-five 15th hole, where he got up and down from a greenside bunker. He even got through the racous 16th hole unscathed before a disasterous finish of bogie, double bogie where he found water off the tee on both holes. He is still playing some great golf and with an early start Friday it’s all to play for.

Padraig tees it up this week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open which of course is famous for having the largest crowds in golf. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case this week because of the ongoing pandemic. A world-class field tees it up including Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy. TPC Scottsdale is the host venue with plenty of birdies but also lots of water to think about with a plethora of risk-reward holes coming home. It is the start of a three week stretch for Padraig in the States as he trys to build on a very impressive start to his season in Europe.

Tee Times – Padraig plays Thursday at 12pm and Friday at 7.40am with Steve Sticker and Jerry Kelly.
