Final round of one under par 69 sees Padraig finish just out side the top thirty at the Houston Open. He got off to a mixed start, with a couple of birdies and a dropped shot at the par four 4th hole, a hole that had given him trouble all week, playing it in three over par for the tournament. He dropped two early shots on the back nine but finished strongly with two closing birdies in his last three holes. First time winner, Carlos Ortiz, was the winner with a thirteen under par total. This is the last tour event of the year for Padraig but he will play in a father and son event later in the year.

Third round of one over par 71 leaves Padraig in a tie for 28th at a level par total going into Sunday’s final round in Houston. He got off to a slow start with a couple of dropped shots early on but had three birdies on the front nine to turn in one under par. He incidentally made a two on the short par three 9th hole for the third day in a row! But a poor start to the back nine derailed him as he dropped three shots in his first four holes. A birdie on the par five 16th hole saw him sign for a 71. He tees off in the final round at 8.10am local time. Nine under par leads the tournament.

fine second round of two under par 68 sees Padraig just outside the top twenty going into the weekend at the Houston Open. His one under par total leaves him just six shots behind the leader on a very bunched looking leaderboard. He got off to a slow start with an early dropped shot on the par four 4th hole, where he three putted from long range. But he picked up three shots in his next five holes, holing two long putts and a short one on the 9th hole, to turn in two under par. He then played solid golf on a tough course to finish with nine pars.

Padraig opens his account in Houston with a one over par round of 71 around a very tough golf course. He lies in tied 44th place with five under par leading. Starting on the back nine, he got off to a slow start with two bogies on the 14th and 18th holes to be out in two over par. He came to his last hole with no birdie recorded but hit a superb tee shot on the par three to eight feet and holed the putt. He tees off late Friday at 12.45pm and will be hoping to make a few more birdies!

Padraig plays this week on the PGA Tour at the Vivint Houston Open. A whos who of golf is playing with some heavy hitters like Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson teeing it up. It is being played at Memorial Park Golf Course in downtown Houston, a public municipal course which Koepka helped redesign. Lanto Griffin is your defending champion this week!

Tee times, Thursday 8.05am and Friday 12.45pm with Sean O’Hair & Alex Noren.
