Life is a lot easier when you play badly and then all of a sudden you get in contention and win one. No one gets on your back. When you finish runner-up seven times, everyone is asking, 'Why aren't you winning?' It's much more fun when you jump into a win out of the blue. It's a much tougher game when you play consistently well.

I was very sorry to hear about the recent passing of Jos Vanskiphout. I worked with Jos back in 1999, when he helped me play my way onto the Ryder Cup team, with two 2nd place finishes the first two weeks I worked with him.

I didn't work with Jos again until Spring 2000, when I then finished 2nd and 1st - so he certainly had something!

I really enjoyed my time working with Jos - he had great character, brought a lot to Sports Psychology and to this day I still try to be myself and not play the game like any other golfer.

I enjoyed Jos' company for many years and the golfing world will be at a loss without him. He had one of the great hearts.
