Life is a lot easier when you play badly and then all of a sudden you get in contention and win one. No one gets on your back. When you finish runner-up seven times, everyone is asking, 'Why aren't you winning?' It's much more fun when you jump into a win out of the blue. It's a much tougher game when you play consistently well.

WGC - Bridgestone Invitational

Entry Date:
Aug 6, 2009

Bitter disappointment for Padraig as he finishes tied second at the Bridgestone Invitational. Trailing by two shots after a front nine blitz by Woods which he covered in five under par, Padraig rallied well to birdie the par four 11th hole to narrow the gap to one shot. He then played solidly to take a one shot lead down the 16th hole where disater struck. A snowman was the result and the tournament was over! Two pars to finish at least gives him renewed hope for his defence of next weeks PGA Championship.

Another solid round as Padraig shoots an impressive three under par 67 to lead by three going into the final round at Firestone. Out in level par, he birdied 12, 13 15 where he hit the flag and 17 to set up a final day showdown with Tiger Woods whom he also plays with in the first two rounds of next weeks PGA Championship. Game on!

Solid second round of one under par 69 leaves Padraig with a one shot lead going into the weekends play at Firestone. On a tough day for scoring a number of players challenged Padraig for the lead but his two birdie, one bogie round held up. He plays with Tim Clark and Scott Verplank at 9.25am local time Saturday

Superb opening round of six under par 66 leaves Padraig with a two shot lead after day one of the Bridestone Invitational. Six birdies and a very impressive no show on the bogie side at long last paid dividends to a man who has never lost faith in the path he has taken to improve his game. With his putter back to its normal self and reliable driving around a very tight course it's the perfect warm up for his defence of next weeks PGA Championship. Not that a win here would go astray as the Fed Ex Cup play offs approach! With an early tee ime Friday at 9.25am he will hope to build on his impressive start.

Padraig is back on the PGA Tour to play in this weeks World Championship event, the Bridgestone Invitational. It is being played at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. A star studded field tees it up this week as they all prepare for next weeks USPGA Championship where Padraig defends. Padraig tees off in round one with Soren Hanson and Scott Verplank.
