Life is a lot easier when you play badly and then all of a sudden you get in contention and win one. No one gets on your back. When you finish runner-up seven times, everyone is asking, 'Why aren't you winning?' It's much more fun when you jump into a win out of the blue. It's a much tougher game when you play consistently well.

Omega Hong Kong Open

Entry Date:
Dec 8, 2003

Padraig shot a final round of four under par 66 to win the season opening Omega Hong Kong Open in dramatic fashion. Three birdies on the front nine left him in control but an out of bounds on the 10th left it wide open again. Padraig played what he later described as the best chip of his professional career on the 16th to remain only one behind and then produced two birdies on the last two holes to snatch victory from Hennie Otto. "I didn't get upset on 10 - everyone makes mistakes on Sunday, it's how you deal with them, I was delighted with the way I performed under pressure. It's a dream to win the season opener for the second year and the world ranking points are most appreciated!"

Padraig completes his year by defending the Target World Challenge next week before he takes his winter break...
